Former County Commissioner Darrel Williams’ company is teaming with Populous as event architects for the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte 2012. Williams’ firm and Neighboring Concepts has worked on the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture and planning and design for the Charlotte Area Transit System. Populous, formerly known as HOK Sport of Kansas City, held the same role at the 2008 and 1996 Democratic National Conventions as well as Summer and Winter Olympic Games and Super Bowls.
