Project Lift LogoSince October, Project L.I.F.T. has engaged the community around the idea of moving from a traditional school calendar to an extended, year-round calendar to help minimize summer learning loss. Through a series of meetings and a parent survey, Project L.I.F.T. has received feedback from parents and the community about this option for families.

On Wednesday, December 12 at 6 p.m., the Project L.I.F.T. zone office will share the feedback they received from the community as well as survey data results from the parent survey conducted in November. The meeting will be held at Thomasboro Academy (539 Bradford Drive). In addition to sharing survey results, staff will share next steps in the process. This meeting is open to the public. Parents and community members are encouraged to attend.

“The final decision on how we move forward will be made by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board of Education,” said Project L.I.F.T. Zone Superintendent Denise Watts.  “We will share with them the data that was received from the community, and they will use this data as part of their decision-making process.”

Project L.I.F.T. staff will present the data to the Board on January 8, 2013.
