The body of one of the two Virginia State University students was discovered by divers late Monday afternoon in the  Appomattox River in Chesterfield County. Those missing were identified as freshmen Jauwan Holmes of Williamsburg and Marvell Edmondson of Portsmouth. Authorities weren’t able to immediately identify which of the students was recovered. The remains were taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond for identification. The search was suspended last night for the second young man.

Several social media outlets claim the young men were taking part in some sort of initiation ritual for a club when they went missingon Saturday. The club was identified as “Men of Honor,” a group that university officials said is not affiliated with the school.
