“She’s talking and alert and recognizes every family member. She’s saying she wants to walk — and that’s what’s encouraging to me. She believes she’s going to walk again,” said Priscilla Mazyck, Tayloni’s mother.

Tayloni is recovering at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. Since the bullet lodged in her spine, she has been unable to move most of her body.

According to family members, though, she began wiggling her arms last week. “Her spirits are wonderful,” her mother said.

But naturally, she is also traumatized by the shooting, “She says she keeps having nightmares about what happened, that she’s scared and doesn’t want to go outside,” according to the Mother.
