A suspected gunman is dead following a shooting at the Naval Shipyard. At least 10 people have been injured and their a several fatalities.

The Naval shipyard is on lockdown as police actively search for a man who opened fired in a building inside the headquarters Washington Navy Yard. The Navy has confirmed that at least 10 people were injured in the shooting that occurred about 8:20 a.m. on Monday. At least one DC metropolitan police officer and another law enforcement officer were injured. The suspect is reportedly a black male and he is barricaded in a building. Initially people were evacuated following the shooting, but now people are being asked to shelter in place. The building where the shooting occurred is home to about 3,000 employees. The Navy has not confirmed that there have been fatalities in the shooting.

The shooting has disrupted traffic in the area as several roads and bridges have been shutdown.
