Last week news broke that a Brooking study showed that Atlanta has surpassed Chicago to become the No. 2 destination for blacks. New York is No. 1. According to a Tara Servatius column in Creative Loafing, that same study found the Charlotte was the No. 6 destination city for blacks.
Nearly 95,000 blacks have moved here in the last eight years. Along with Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Miami and Washington rank ahead of Charlotte. People often complain about the lack of things to do here in Charlotte, but considering that nearly 30 percent of the city’s population is black maybe people should stop complaining and start doing something to make the city better for blacks.
