“Back in the Day” by Ahmad used to be my jam. It was released the year I graduated from high school, and I thought I had enough experiences to talk about what happened back in the day. I was about to embark on the journey of discovery (JOD). JOD was the time between high school and whatever you decide to do after high school. It is that time when you start learning about life and true responsibility.
I would venture to say that Ahmad would agree with me. The 33-year old has had a rebirth of sorts, telling the Sanford Magazine in January 2009 that the “…old Ahmad died. This is the rebirth.”
I was writing something earlier this week was re-introduced to this song. It is just what I need to get me going on this Manic Monday – a little nostalgia.
