I am a Mary J. Blige fan. I own every album she has ever made and probably will always support the Queen of Hip Hop Soul. To me she is a genius. She doesn’t have the best pipes, but she puts her heart into every record and she sings things that women can relate to. Like today’s Manic Monday pick, “Not Today.” It is a classic heartbreak hotel joint, but not a sad song. It is a song of empowerment and she picked none other than the PitBull in a Skirt – E-V-E to accompany her on this record.
Classic joint that gets you moving and feeling confident even if your man ain’t cheating or causing drama. It reminds us that we are the prize – and in control.
