The stories are compelling and so are the needs. Each month, Urban League Central Carolinas helps dozens of young men and women learn skills to help them get jobs in this changing economy. On Thursday, several of those beneficiaries shared their personal stories of how the organization helped them during a fundraiser at the Omni.

Dressed in dark suits and wearing nervous smiles, the men talked about how the Urban League’s job skills programs gave them a new start in life. The event drew a mix of political candidates such as Rodney Moore, running for NC house district 99 and Judge Lisa Bell as well community leaders such as No Grease’s Damian Johnson, JCSU’s Torrey Feimster, Food Lion’s Eric Watson, Charlotte Chamber’s Keva Walton and others. The Urban League still needs help. To donate go to http://www.urbanleaguecc.org
