It looks like things are getting worst for Future’s baby mama, Eliza Reign. She went to social media to blast not only the rapper but his mama as well.  She says that the father’s grandma doesn’t want to see her grandchild. On top of that, the two are still fighting the child support battle because he wants to give her $1,000 a month.

In other news, Miley Cyrus’ sister, Noah Cyrus is apologizing after getting backlash for calling Candace Owens a “nappy a** heaux”.  She defended Harry Styles who wore a dress on the cover of Vogue and Owens reacted by saying “bring back manly men.” Cyrus claims she didn’t know the history and context of the word nappy and is asking for forgiveness.

From Fred Hampton To Laquan McDonald: Why We Should Always Question The Chicago PD

UPDATED: 12:15 a.m. ET, Dec. 4, 2020 —

The Chicago Police Department‘s deep-seated history of corruption and scandal has been well-documented over the decades and has managed to continue to thrive up to this day.

In one of the most recent examples, actor Jussie Smollett and his allegations of being the victim of a hate crime were famously fudged by the Chicago Police Department, resulting in his own felony indictment. But in more serious cases, lives have been lost — including Fred Hampton and Laquan McDonald — to preventable police violence that was arguably inspired by racism.

All of which gets us to this brief but necessary reminder of why we should always question the notoriously corrupt Chicago Police Department.

Hampton is one of the most recognizable cases of deplorable behavior from the Chicago police. On Dec. 4, 1969, Hampton — a 21-year-old chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party (BPP) — and Mark Clark — a 22-year-old Peoria Panther leader — were murdered by Chicago police officers working with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. At the time of the attack, Hampton and Clark were neither inciting violence nor having a standoff with the police. Instead, they were both asleep inside their Chicago home.

Driven by then-Cook County State’s Attorney Edward Hanrahan, the deadly raid of the local BPP chapter — which left four other BPP members severely injured — was one of multiple attempts to attack the BPP amid Cointelpro’s mission to “expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit or otherwise neutralize the activities of black nationalist hate type organizations and groupings, their leadership, spokesmen, membership and supporters,” as written in an FBI document.

“Despite the evidence provided by ballistics experts showing that police had fired 99 percent of the bullets and had falsified the report on the incident, the first federal grand jury did not indict anyone involved in the raid,” History.com wrote. “Furthermore, even though a subsequent grand jury did indict all the police officers involved, the charges were dismissed.”

Now, years later, there is the horrific story of Laquan McDonald. On Oct. 20, 2014, video of the 17-year-old’s killing appeared to show then-Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke firing at him 16 times within 14 seconds. The video was released one year after McDonald’s death and showed the teen walking away from instead of confronting officers, the latter of which Van Dyke lied about. McDonald continued to be shot at even after he fell to the ground from the initial bullets.

Two police officers and one detective were acquitted of trying to cover up the shooting for Van Dyke, even though that was precisely what they did. The three men all said Van Dyke, who was found guilty in October, was justified in shooting the teenager 16 times within 14 seconds. Van Dyke’s partner the night of the shooting, even said: “McDonald was walking toward Van Dyke and with his arms raised when he was shot.” The video would later contradict that account, showing Walsh lied. Still, he and his co-defendants were acquitted.

More than four years after killing McDonald, Van Dyke was given the light sentence of 81 months in prison.

Producer Michael Korte released his latest viral sensation inspired by the film with a variety of creators from singer and viral TikTok sensation Coco Jones, rapper and choreographer Sharaya J and artist Blimes.

Korte is known for producing viral music videos including his Hercules muses medley which reached over 4 million views. Korte Productions found its’ niche for recreating timeless musical films with a modern twist that includes up and coming creators across the arts. The production company has filmed countless videos and Korte seems to have an affinity for Disney movies with his library including “Queens Sing King,’ a soulful medley of songs from Lion King featuring nine powerful female vocalists. The talent and the range are showcased in each video.

His latest rework has also gained massive traction already reaching 15 thousand views since it was published two days ago (Dec. 1). The latest mashup features a glorious medley of songs from the iconic musical film. The piece was beautifully arranged by Bryson Camper and filmed by Amanda Ferrarese under Korte’s production company Korte Productions.

Sister Act 2 has always been my favorite film, and something I’ve turned to for joy.  [I] just wanted to try and pay thanks to a classic that has done so much for me.”

We asked Korte how he has cultivated an audience on YouTube garnering over 52 thousand subscribers on the platform. He humbly answers, “cultivating the audience has come organically, slowly but surely, but spiritually. Grateful to be building this tiny space on the internet where talent is celebrated.”

Birthday Wishes To Lil Baby As We Celebrate A True Humanitarian

Lil Baby Protesting With The People

Source: GottaKeepIt3 / Radio One Digital

Lil Baby celebrates his 26th birthday today and the Atlanta rapper has had quite a successful year. He was recently nominated for two Grammys for his Billboard top-charting single, “The Bigger Picture,” for Best Rap Song and Rap Performance. Some would argue he should have been nominated for Album of the Year and Best New Artist as well. Snubbed or not, Lil Baby has proven to be a force in the rap game but what excites us most is his willingness to use his platform for the greater good of his community.

Most recently, taking this question to Twitter after racking up $1.5 million from his 2x Grammy nominated song “Bigger Picture.”

The multi-platinum artist is a true philanthropist who redistributes wealth back into his hometown of Atlanta in ways that directly impact generations to come. Lil Baby, often flaunting his latest drip, gives back just as much as he spends on himself and his crew of family and friends.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CITlvjZnxdz/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

In Reebok’s Alter The Icons campaign, Lil Baby spoke about why being a role model for his community is important to him.

“Being from the hood gets glorified, like ‘I’m from the hood’ but it’s not an option. It just is what it is,” he says to Reebok. “But instead of glorifying it, I’m trying to help and I’m going to try to make sure I put on the best facade I can, if it has to be a facade or whatever, to teach them to do the right thing.”

Lil Baby actually never intended on becoming a rapper, so it’s a beautiful sight to witness his ascendance. He recognizes he didn’t have the easiest upbringing growing up in Southwest Atlanta. After overcoming a bit of trouble in his late teens and early twenties, he uses music as an outlet to express himself. The music opened up many possibilities for the young rapper and quickly his career fully bloomed. Now, Lil Baby uses his platform to speak to a younger generation influencing the culture in limitless ways beyond his his music or style.

Earlier this year, Lil Baby awarded his former Atlanta high school, Booker T. Washington High School, with a $150,000 scholarship. He gives back in a major way. In partnership with Amazon’s Rap Rotation, Lil Baby gave the students a live performance and shocked both staff and students when he awarded the school with the hefty scholarship.

Truly, a humanitarian and an altruistic artist who shares with Amazon Music the significance of giving back and his aims to inspire with the scholarship. He tells the music platform, “when their time comes, it’s going to be their time—it’s my turn to get a scholarship, my turn to go to college, my turn to be a new leader of the world.”

There are many admirable things to be said about Lil Baby’s service to the rap game, his close family and friends and his jeweler’s pockets, but his greatest service is to the generations to come. The impact he is making on the world is far more than most people his age can take credit for. A young public servant sharing the fruits of his labor so that younger generations can focus on living life passionately and free from worry and stress.

Happy Birthday, Lil Baby! Your community thanks you and your continuous philanthropic contributions.

Black Woman Judge Who Leads North Carolina’s Supreme Court Is In Election Recount Limbo

This article is made possible through Votebeat, a nonpartisan reporting project covering local election integrity and voting access. This article is available for reprint under the terms of Votebeat’s republishing policy.

North Carolina’s 100 counties are finishing their recount of the state Supreme Court chief justice race Monday. Democratic incumbent Chief Justice Cheri Beasley requested the recount after fewer than 500 votes separated her and Republican Paul Newby. The recount was supposed to be completed last Wednesday, Nov. 25. The State Board of Elections said then that three counties—Mecklenburg, Forsyth, and Guilford—needed more time to finish their recount because of the large number of votes in those counties.

Mecklenburg County Elections Director Michael Dickerson said his office had to recount more than 565,000 ballots in a matter of days. That included absentee-by-mail ballots and ballots from early voting sites, which his office was legally allowed to start counting before Election Day (however, machines did not produce a result from these ballots until Nov. 3).

“What you ended up doing was putting all [this] vote counting in the hands of a particular group of people here at the board of elections,” Dickerson said. “And it’s just going to be a time-consuming process.”

Dickerson said at least 50 elections workers were counting Mecklenburg County’s ballots, all while following social distancing protocols. He also said the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections members were likely to certify the results Monday night and upload them to the state board’s election results website. He said both Beasley and Newby’s vote totals changed by fewer than 10 votes.

Once the state board completes the recount, the second-place candidate can request a hand-to-eye recount of a small but random sample of ballots in each county.

You can view the current recount totals for the North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice race here.

New Richmond Casino Survey Asks For Feedback As City Decides Developer And Site Amid Unprecedented Social Justice Upheaval

SAFRICA-HEALTH-VIRUS-ECONOMY

Source: MICHELE SPATARI / Getty

A new survey is seeking feedback from people living in Virginia’s capital city to help Richmond decide the operator and location for the last of five planned gaming resorts in the commonwealth. The casinos are expected to bring lucrative economic development in cities with sizeable Black populations.

The online survey, which can be found by clicking on BlackCasinoRVA.com, follows criticism from African American business leaders that they and local residents have been virtually excluded from plans for casinos in Virginia.

As part of the process to get a casino referendum on the ballot in 2021, the survey encourages residents and business owners in Richmond to answer 11 key questions “on what the City should look for in an operator and site for a resort casino.” The survey will only be available through Dec. 14.

The survey comes at the end of a year that has seen an unprecedented level of social justice upheaval and an overall racial reckoning.

However, while Virginia plans to open five casinos in largely Black communities, four of them have already been approved without any African American participation to date. Richmond is the last opportunity for Black residents to voice their opinions on the matter.

The other cities where casino resorts are expected to be built include Bristol, Danville, Norfolk and Portsmouth. To date, there has been no opportunity for Black people and Black-owned businesses in Virginia to participate in the economic development aspect of the ambitious legislation that residents will ultimately vote on.

Early estimates projected a cash windfall of nearly $1 billion in annual revenue from the casinos and the generation of more than $260 million from taxes, all while creating thousands of new jobs. But there are still questions about how the local Black population would be considered when it came to those jobs or the opportunities in casino management, construction, service contracts or other investment ventures.

Urban One Inc., a Black-owned business that operates media organizations across the country and is a licensed casino operator in the state of Maryland, said Virginia must consider diversity and inclusion when it comes to key decisions surrounding plans for its casinos. The company has registered its interest in proposing a casino development in Richmond.

The Pamunkey Indian Tribe, which is also competing for the casino, is being bankrolled by Tennessee billionaire Jon Yarbrough. By one state estimation, the Pawmunky Indian Tribe has about 200 members. That population stood in stark contrast to the number of Black people in Virginia (20 percent of the state’s more than 3.5 million residents). It also paled in comparison to the Black populations in each of the five cities where the casinos have been planned.

The Colonial Downs Group also wants to be considered for the casino. But Urban One is the only minority-owned entity that has expressed interest.

“Economic opportunity is the driver for a better way of life for African Americans,” Cathy Hughes, Urban One’s founder, said in a statement. “Casinos in Virginia’s Black Communities will create Billions of dollars in value from jobs, construction, service contracts and investment profits. The African American community deserves the right to participate in the value creation generated from its own revenues! This opportunity should not just go to Indian Tribes and out of state billionaires.”

Urban One’s CEO Alfred Liggins stressed the importance of seizing the moment.

“Right now is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the advancement of Black-led economic development in the city of Richmond. This new survey is asking for the input of its citizens, giving Black residents the chance to speak up and be heard and demand inclusion in the biggest economic development opportunity in city history,” he said. “The only certain path to more Black jobs and more Black contracts is through Black ownership in the Richmond casino. We should not be left out!”

The survey can be taken by clicking on BlackCasinoRVA.com.

Tyler Perry, Angela Bassett, D-Nice Among Honorees At National Action Network’s Annual Triumph Awards

One of the nation’s leading civil rights organizations announced the honorees for its annual awards ceremony recognizing people for working to promote social, racial and economic justice in their communities. The National Action Network (NAN) on Wednesday revealed the five winners’ names for this installment of the Triumph Awards, a yearly tradition that began more than a decade ago.

Actress Angela Bassett, activist Brittany Packnett Cunningham, DJ D-Nice, Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts and actor/producer Tyler Perry were all named as recipients of Triumph Awards at the 11th annual ceremony, which will go virtual for the first time on Monday night.

The Rev. Al Sharpton, NAN’s founder, said the 2020 Triumph Awards being presented held a special meaning as the country experiencing a racial reckoning sparked by police violence and a pandemic that have both disproportionately affected Black people, in particular.

“This year’s honorees exemplify service and activism in the wake of a year that has exposed challenges haunting civil rights and social justice communities for too long,” Sharpton, who is also NAN’s president, said in a statement on Wednesday. “In a year tainted by bigotry, hatred and divisiveness, we at NAN are committed to highlighting people making real change. The Triumph Awards recognize and celebrate these significant figures that are both successful leaders in their fields as well as committed advocates for equality and justice. These are people who can be celebrated, lifted, and ultimately emulated in their work.”

More on the honorees:

  • Bassett has used her artistry to bring the narratives of strong Black women to film and television. Some of her most pivotal roles were in films that include “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” “Boyz ‘N the Hood,” “Malcolm X,” “Black Panther” and dozens of other successful projects. She has also used her platform to bring awareness to diabetes, a disease that not only disproportionately affects Black people but also contributed to her mother’s death.
  • Packnett Cunningham, who rose to prominence as an activist following the police killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014, was on President Barack Obama‘s 21st Century Policing Task Force and founded Campaign Zero, a nonprofit organization devoted to research-based policy solutions to end police brutality.
  • Hip-hop pioneer D-Nice all but became a household name as the pandemic first hit because of his marathon-style DJ sets that united socially distanced music-lovers who came together online in record numbers for his signature “Club Quarantine” series on social media.
  • Pastor Jakes Roberts, the daughter of legendary Bishop T.D. Jakes, is a motivational speaker, best-selling author and faith leader who founded the Women Evolve ministry, a group helping women achieve success.
  • Perry, whose reputation precedes itself, has especially expanded his multi-dimensional repertoire to focus on activism and philanthropy as the pandemic has progressively worsened. Most recently, he bankrolled an initiative for Black voters in battleground state Florida ahead of the presidential election.

Aside from the honorees, gospel artist Bishop Marvin Sapp and the Abundance Arts Academy, a Black-owned dance company from Brooklyn, are scheduled to perform at the virtual ceremony.

To watch the 11th annual Triumph Awards online, NAN will be live-streaming the event on its website and Facebook page at 7 p.m. ET.

Watch Trailer: Kyla Pratt Co-Stars In New Fox Comedy ‘Call Me Kat’

"The Haunted Mansion" World Premiere in LA

Source: Paul Mounce – Corbis / Getty

We gave the exclusive earlier this year of Kyla Pratt’s return to television in Fox’s new comedic series Call Me Kat alongside Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bailik and Leslie Jordan. The sitcom follows Mayim Bialik as a single 39-year old who drains her life savings to spontaneously open a cat café. The series will premiere Jan. 3, 2021 and today viewers got a first look in a one minute teaser trailer.

Bialik shines as the hopelessly single and eccentric character, which is said to be inspired by Miranda Hart’s British television sitcom Miranda. Keke Palmer and Leslie Jordan are hilarious additions to the show working at Bailik’s character, Kat’s new cat café. The show explores Kat discovering new passions and making pivotal moves despite her family and friends thoughts on her impulsive decision making.

The show feels relatable to the millions of millennials and Gen-Z’ers who are making seemingly irrational career changes when old, boredom careers simply don’t feel good anymore. In the series, Bialik’s character struggles to combat her mother’s opinions on her life choices while attempting to prove to society that people can have whatever they desire in life.

Bialik spoke on the show’s purpose during the Fox Press Tour Wednesday claiming that Call Me Kat will introduce American viewers to a “new kind of woman.” While the series is inspired by Miranda Hart’s widely successful BBC sitcom in its format, premise and personalities, Bialik told press that the series adds current layers to the original four-season series.

Mayim Bailik executively produces the show alongside Big Bang co-star Jim Parson.  The multi-camera comedy is written by Showtime’s The Big C producer, Darlene Hunt, and is unapologetically breaking the fourth wall which more sitcoms have incorporated since hit sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Airfamously experimented with the concept in the 90s.

“What we’ve created is a woman who includes everyone in her world because that’s what makes her world interesting and colorful,” the actress said of her character’s breaking the fourth wall, a trademark of both Hart and Waller-Bridge’s series. “Sometimes they’re people who exist, sometimes they’re people who don’t exist. We’re including the audience, they’re in on her jokes, they’re in on her experiences because that’s how she views the world – everyone is part of it.”

Executive producer Jim Parsons vocalized his confidence in the show’s success during the press conference. He recalled his optimistic feelings about Big Bang and said he feels a similar way about Call Me Kat.

Call Me Kat star Mayim Bailik shares to Youtube her experience filming with Covid-19 inconveniently lingering in the air. She showcases her ride to work in a mask and foggy glasses while educating anxious fans on the latest health regulations and guidelines the cast and crew had to follow. The network and production companies involved are maintaining a safe environment for their cast and crew while getting the job done to film and release the first season of the show.

It will be exciting to see the child actress on our screens in new content, but until then you can continue streaming Ms. Pratt on Netflix in old episodes of One On One. Her latest comedic venture, Call Me Kat will premiere Jan. 3, 2021 to Fox.

Pop sensation, Britney Spears celebrates her 39th birthday today. The singer has had a rough couple of years fighting over her conservatorship and battling guardianship with her father, which led to the trending #FreeBritney movement. Today, the pop star can forget all of her worries and feel all of the love as fans across the world are flooding the timeline with roses for the birthday girl.

The “Princess of Pop” gave us many things including the revival of teen pop during the late 1990s and early 2000s. After her notable appearance in Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club, Spears signed to Jive Records in 1997 at the tender age of 15.

Her first two albums …Baby One More Time and Oops!… I Did It Again went certified diamond in the United States and became two of the best-selling albums of all time, making her the best-selling teenage artist of all time. Britney reached global success with her first two albums and continued to take it up a notch with her next two album releases.

Spears adopted more mature and provocative themes and aesthetics for Britney and In the Zone.

Britney Spears has always been an all around entertainer giving the girls vocals, dance moves and eventually acting. She draws influence from entertainers like Madonna, Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston. As Britney’s sound and look matured, she was compared most to Janet who also literally grew in the industry.

Spears made her feature film debut with a starring role in Crossroads in 2002. The southern belle received an Oscar for Best Actress as Lucy Wagner in the film.

https://twitter.com/skinnykneedle/status/1226648952512139269?s=20

Aside from her Oscar win, Britney has racked up several accolades over the years. She was nominated for a Grammy 8 times for several of her hits and she eventually took home a Grammy for her single “Toxic” in 2005.

Britney Spears is noted as a trailblazer in Pop music for her fashionable looks, performances and collaborations. One of the most iconic brand partnerships was with Pepsi in the 2000s alongside legendary acts Beyoncé and P!nk.

Another talent worth noting is Britney’s love for dance and upbeat choreography. Spears loves dance so much she created her own game with Playstation 2 and Gameboy Advance called Britney’s Dance Beat where fans of the star could hit her classic moves.

Britney: Piece of Me was the first concert residency by Britney Spears where she performed at The AXIS auditorium in the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show opened on December 27, 2013, and it was well received by critics and achieved huge commercial success. The residency won the best of Las Vegas award in 2015 and 2017. In 2015, Spears extended her contract with Planet Hollywood for an additional two years, concluding the residency on December 31, 2017. After close to 250 performances, the show grossed close to $138 million from 900,000 tickets sold.

https://twitter.com/heIIobritney/status/1332824228748357633?s=20

Britney has given us many things including songs like “Slave For U,” “Womanizer” and “Circus.” Her Billboard top-charting singles made an enormous impact on teens across the world. There were children dancing in their living rooms holding remotes as microphones to sing along to Britney’s iconic hits. Many people have attempted to recreate her fashionable pop star looks from the classic all denim fit she wore alongside then, boo Justin Timberlake to her school girl look from the “Oops!…I Did It Again” music video.

According to Rolling Stone, the star came bearing gifts this year dropping a previously unreleased song, “Swimming in the Stars” which was recording while making 2016’s Glory.

Britney Spears is a legend and should be regarded as such. Though she has dealt with her fair share of public battles, she continues to inspire a generation of fans with her timeless songs, noteworthy dance moves and quintessential moments created over the years. Thank you for being our Princess of Pop and sharing your gifts with the world! Happy Birthday, Britney!

Lawsuit Demands Nearly 200,000 Purged Georgia Voters Be Reinstated Ahead Of Runoff Races

One of the leading organizations in the fight for Black voters‘ rights and education sued the state of Georgia over the practice of voter roll purging.

According to GregPalast.com, the suit was filed Wednesday in the United States District Court Northern District of Georgia and accuses Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger of violating the National Voter Registration Act by removing around 198,000 citizens who moved from previous addresses listed on their voter registration.

The case names LaTosha Brown of Black Voters Matter, Barbara Arnwine, founder of the Transformative Justice Coalition and C.K. Hoffler of Rainbow PUSH were named as plaintiffs. They are working against the clock to reinstate those purged prior to the Dec. 7 voter registration deadline so voters can participate in the Jan. 5 runoff elections between Republican Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler who face Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, respectively.

The suit claims voters were improperly purged when they had not moved residences. The state also alleged voters submitted change of address forms, which was disputed by the USPS. Lastly, the suit says Georgia onboarded a contractor who used the wrong voter list and was not on the approved list of licensees by USPS.

Raffensperger remains in a hotbed of controversy, stemming from the presidential election and Trump’s baseless claims of voter fraud in the states of Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania. He later accused South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham of pressuring him to exclude ballots.

Raffensperger follows in the shoes of his predecessor, Gov. Brian Kemp who was accused of the same disenfranchisement. Critics claimed Kemp purged more than 340,000 voters from the state’s registration rolls during his time as Secretary of State, an accusation that became central during his gubernatorial run against activist and politician Stacey Abrams in 2018.

Kemp was also accused of other forms of voter suppression including placing registration applications on hold, failing to address hiccups at majority Black voting precincts, along with absentee and provisional ballot complications. Kemp, who was accused of tampering as head of the state’s election process, did not step down from his post until two days before the election.

Abrams’s organization Fair Fight sued the state board of elections in 2018.

The suits aim to highlight the history of voter suppression aimed at primarily at Black voters. Organizers and voter rights activists want to reform Georgia’s current election system, in hopes that the unconstitutional obstacles which attempt to disenfranchise Black voters are reversed.
