About 500 CMS teachers will begin receiving preliminary lay-off notices on Wednesday, a day after the school board approved the 2010-2011 budget.
The board voted to eliminate CMS-TV, and about $350,000 of that savings will protect about seven teacher jobs. CMS-TV was a popular target of critics. The board also voted to save $1.3 million by making students pay fees for Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.
