Gotta send a big Happy Birthday shout to the incomparable Alicia Keys! When she came on the scene I had the privilege of seeing her perform in a small showcase before her singles dropped. It was just her & the piano. As soon as she started playing (& really playing some complex chords & progressions) I said “She’s outta here”. Hadn’t even heard her sing one note but I knew there were NO female artists out (or males at the time) who were playing & singing at the same time, she was the only one…..& I was right. She blew threw the roof & the rest is history! So enjoy your day Miss “Beatz”, & keep makin’ it happen!
