Well, that was quick.

Dwane Casey was fired from his post as the head coach of the Toronto Raptors last month, but he’s already found new digs in Detroit. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Casey has reportedly agreed to a five-year deal with the Detroit Pistons.

Casey spent five seasons with the Toronto Raptors, leading them to overall 320-238 with five straight playoff appearances. It took awhile for the team to gel and add the right pieces, so after a few first-round outings, but they ultimately made it to the Eastern Conference Finals as well as the semi-finals. But the real issue came with the team, or the man, who got in their way and prevented them from ever tasting the Finals: LeBron James.

Over the past three years, James has gotten into the Raptors’ heads and proved that the Eastern Conference belongs to him, making it so that the city shall now be known as LeBronto. But before the Raptors entered the playoffs, it had the franchise’s best record ever with 59 wins and secured the number one seed in the east. Casey was named coach of the year for his feats but was fired by the organization for failing to reach the promise land once again.

Casey won’t be going far, as he’s staying in the Eastern Conference, but he’s got two solid talents in Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond with a supporting cast to boot.

“They have some great young players with Andre, Stanley Johnson, Reggie Jackson, Reggie Bullock is an excellent shooter. They have a lot of good pieces. Stan Van Gundy did an excellent job of coaching that team. They only missed the playoffs by five games. We’ll see where it goes,” Casey said of his new squad on The Jump.
