The 100 days of summer is coming to a close. Students across the region will be heading back to school in a few short weeks. Here are a few key dates to assist you in preparing for the upcoming school year:
- Rock Hill students make their 2010- 2011 school year debut on August 18.
- Students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg; Gaston; Cabarrus (Concord and Kannapolis) and Iredell/Statesville schools start school on August 25.
- North Carolina and South Carolina tax-free weekend takes place August 6 – 8, 2010. During this weekend families can make purchases of eligible items without paying tax. Eligible items include:

- Sports and recreation equipment under $50
- Computers under $3,500
- Computer equipment under $250
