Surprise, surprise. A developer and the Charlotte Housing Authority want to build 100 apartments for low income residents in Ballantyne, and some folks are unhappy about it.

Opponents said the Ballantyne area is not a good site for public housing because there is little public transportation, few sidewalks, and already overcrowded schools, according to a WCNC.com story.

Even Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has reservations about the proposal saying it would mean 26 additional students in schools that are already over-capacity.

Hmm. Would an apartment complex for middle and upper income residents raise this kind of opposition. What do you think?
