Here’s Why The CDC Reduced Quarantine Time From 14 Days To 7-10 Days

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that people are now allowed to shorted the quarantine time for people who were exposed to COVID-19.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD OUR APP AND TAKE US WITH YOU ANYWHERE!

Previously, those exposed to the virus were recommended to quarantine for 14 days but now can end within “10 days if the person has not developed any symptoms and can end after just seven days if the asymptomatic person also tests negative for the virus,” said Dr. Henry Walke, the agency’s COVID incident manager.

A 10-day quarantine is only advised if the person hasn’t shown any symptoms and can end in seven days if the asymptomatic person tests negative within the 48 hours of the last day of quarantine.

CNBC reports that “a quarantine after 10 days without a negative test leads to about 1% risk of spreading the virus to others” and after a “seven-day quarantine with a negative test, there’s about a 5% chance of spreading the virus”.

Though the days have shortened, the CDC still recommends that the 14-day quarantine is still the best way to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

Fox News reported more than 13.5 million cases of COVID-19 and more than 267,000 deaths.

Crystal Mason, Jailed For ‘Illegally Voting,’ Appeals Her Conviction: ‘I Refuse To Be Afraid’

She was convicted of illegal voting, but thatâs not why she might be going to prison

Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram / Getty

This article is made possible through Votebeat, a nonpartisan reporting project covering local election integrity and voting access. This article is available for reprint under the terms of Votebeat’s republishing policy.

A Fort Worth woman jailed for casting a provisional ballot in the 2016 presidential election while on supervised release for a federal conviction is asking the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to overturn her conviction on illegal voting charges, according to legal documents filed Monday.

Crystal Mason said she cast her ballot — which, like most provisional ballots, was ultimately not counted — on the advice of a poll worker. Mason told the court during her trial and appeals that she did not realize she was ineligible to vote under Texas law, which required her to first complete her sentence on a federal tax fraud conviction.

The request for review by the state’s highest criminal court was filed by Mason’s attorneys as well as the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas, the national ACLU and the Texas Civil Rights Project.

“Crystal Mason never wanted to be a voting rights advocate,” said Alison Grinter, criminal defense attorney for Mason, in a statement released by ACLU Texas. “She never wanted to be on the news or have her name become a rallying point in a politically divisive battle. Hers is a textbook case for why provisional ballots were created and why they must not be criminalized. Crystal’s fight is a fight for every Texan.”

Her legal team argues that Mason did not intend to vote illegally and that the provisional ballot is specifically for voters with questions about ineligibility.

They also point out that her vote was never counted and that an appellate court should not have upheld her conviction earlier this year after acknowledging that she was unclear on the law, a decision they say conflicts with the Federal Help America Vote Act.

“Like her, thousands of voters cast provisional ballots during every federal election,” said Emma Hilbert, attorney for the Texas Civil Rights Project. “Criminalizing those actions jeopardizes our democratic values and risks silencing the voices of voters across this state and nation.”

Provisional ballots, created in 2002, are cast at polling places when the voter’s eligibility is in question. Most are not counted, and tens of thousands are cast in major elections by voters who believe they are eligible and who sign an affidavit claiming eligibility — a requirement for a provisional vote.

The votes are then reviewed after the election and voters are notified within 30 days whether their votes counted. Most are rejected on the grounds that, like Mason, the voter was ineligible.

Mason was arrested a few months after learning that her ballot was not counted. Prosecutors argued that she knew she was violating the law prohibiting felons from voting before completing their sentences, while Mason said she did not read that portion of the affidavit before signing it.

For “illegally voting,” she was sentenced to five years in prison. The conviction landed her back in federal prison for months, and she was released into a halfway house in May of this year.

In Tarrant County, where Mason lives, nearly 4,500 provisional ballots were cast in 2016, and 3,990 were rejected — but only she faced criminal prosecution.

In March, a state appellate court upheld her conviction and five-year prison sentence.

Texas lawmakers are working on changing the law to protect voters like Mason, filing bills for the upcoming session that would allow felons to vote while they are still serving their sentences — as long as they are not still incarcerated.

If passed, the two bills, authored by Rep. Senfronia Thompson, D-Houston, and Rep. Carl Sherman Sr., D-DeSoto, would mark the first time since 1997 that Texas broadened voting rights of convicted felons, according to Rice University’s Kinder Institute of Urban Research.

A similar bill never made it out of committee during the 2019 legislative session. A 1997 law signed by then-Gov. George W. Bush eliminated the two-year waiting period for felons to be able to vote after completing their sentences.

“I’m more energized than ever before, and I refuse to be afraid,” Mason said in the ACLU statement. “I thought I was performing my civic duty and followed the election process by filling out a provisional ballot. By trying to criminalize my actions, Texas has shown me the power of my voice. I will use my voice to educate and empower others who are fighting for their right to vote.”

Study Finds Houston Among Best Places To Look For Love During Pandemic

Should we just order some food online?

This may be hard to believe but apparently, Houston is open enough during a pandemic for someone to find love. Yes, love – in a whole pandemic.

A recent survey conducted by Apartment List found the Bayou City as one of the best places to date while in the middle of the pandemic. Houston was eighth on the list, ahead of cities such as Detroit and Milwaukee.

The methodology broke down as such. Apartment List accounted for Dating Satisfaction, Outdoor Satisfaction and Percentage Of Singles with Dating Satisfaction making up the bulk of the weight with 50 percent. Outdoor Satisfaction scored 30 percent and Percentage of Singles scored 20 percent. In Houston, an estimated 50.5 percent of the population is still single and 34.4 percent say they’re satisfied with the dating scene. Nearly 71 percent of pollsters say Houston has plenty of outdoor spots to take someone for a date.

According to Apartment List, the best city to find love during the pandemic is Austin, Texas, followed by Boston, Virginia Beach, Miami, Las Vegas, San Antonio and San Diego.

Top 10 Cities for Dating During the Pandemic

Rank Metro Dating Scene Satisfaction Outdoor Recreation Satisfaction Percent Singles Composite Score

Cynthia Bailey Reportedly Suing Ex-Husband Peter Thomas For $170,000

Since their 2017 divorce, Peter Thomas and Cynthia Bailey have managed to maintain a cordial relationship. So cordial in fact that she felt comfortable loaning him thousands of dollars.

But you know what they say about loaning friends and family money…it’s a risk.

And according to Showbiz Cheat Sheetit’s one that has come back to bite Bailey in the butt a bit just as she’s beginning her new life with husband Mike Hill.

On the “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” we watched Peter open up the Bar One lounge in Atlanta. From the looks of things on the show, the lounge seemed to be doing well. But due to some shady activity from the landlord, despite Peter’s on-time payments, the property was foreclosed.

Thomas vowed to open up a new location for Bar One. And Bailey loaned him the money to do so.

She spoke about the loan in a 2017 interview with ESSENCE, “…we actually have unfinished business. I’m his partner at Bar One Atlanta. We’re building it out now. This was a project that we started while we were together, and we kind of put it on hold while we were kind of not liking each other so much.”

Sadly, they weren’t able to get things sorted out amongst themselves and Bailey has taken the matter to court.

According to Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Bailey has filed a lawsuit against Thomas seeking to recoup the $170,000 she lent him in order to purchase the new space.

Bailey’s name is on the deed for the building which sadly is also now in foreclosure as well.

Documents show that Peter is set to start making payments to Bailey in January 2021.

Hopefully, they’ll come to a resolution.

Remembering The Politics Of Fred Hampton’s Assassination By Chicago Police

UPDATED 7:15 a.m. EDT, Dec. 2, 2020 —

Fred Hampton, one of the major figures in the original Black Panther Party that rose to prominence during the civil rights era in the 1960s, was assassinated on Dec. 4, 1969. Thursday marks the 51st year since he was killed by police in an example of the politics of law enforcement using unnecessary force against Black men — an unfortunate trend that has lingered for centuries in America and continues to thrive in 2020.

Hampton was only 21 at the time of his death, but his accomplishments and contributions to empowering Black people in America have lasted for decades. But it was because of those very advances that united minorities in opposition to the police state in which many of them lived that ended up getting him killed. Law enforcement began “heavy surveillance” of him before the fateful police raid in Peoria, Illinois, where he died and other Black Panther members were injured.

https://twitter.com/drbrooms7/status/1070011173700059136

Hampton, chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party, and Mark Clark, a 22-year-old Peoria Panther leader, were murdered by Chicago police officers working with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. At the time of the attack, Hampton and Clark were not inciting violence, nor were they standing off with police. Conversely, they were both asleep inside their Chicago home.

Driven by Cook County State’s Attorney Edward Hanrahan, the deadly raid of the local BPP chapter—which left four other BPP members severely injured—was one of multiple attempts to attack the Black Panther Party amid Cointelpro’s mission to “expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit or otherwise neutralize the activities of black nationalist hate type organizations and groupings, their leadership, spokesmen, membership and supporters,” as written in a FBI document.

Though the FBI is said to not have been responsible, a federal grand jury did indicate the bureau played a notable role in events leading up to it. Specifically, FBI informant William O’Neal—third in command of the Chicago Panthers—supplied Hanrahan with information to aid in planning his attack. The families of Hampton and Clark, along with the seven survivors, filed a $47.7 million damage suit.

Along with being chairman of the BPP’s Illinois chapter, Hampton was known as a charismatic leader. Some of his other accomplishments include organizing a student chapter of the NAACP in Maywood, Illinois. Hampton also brought together poor Black, white and Puerto Rican people as part of the “Rainbow Coalition” and inspired peace among several gangs in rivalry with one another.

On the anniversary of Hampton’s death, we remember the life of an inspiring revolutionary, as well as the other lives lost on that date 51 years ago.

Join us in remembering the politics of Fred Hampton’s assassination by watching the documentary below about his wife.

Republican Blames Trump For Noose Sent To Election Worker: ‘It Has To Stop!’

A Georgia Republican official on Tuesday took direct aim at Donald Trump and blamed him for the threats of death and violence various election workers have been getting as the state certified the presidential election in favor of Joe Biden.

Gabriel Sterling, the Voting Systems Manager for Georgia’s Secretary of State’s Office, delivered an emotional speech that was at once a condemnation of Trump and a plea for the violence to end. He even said one election worker had a noose sent to him, an ominous threat in a state with a rich history of lynchings by vigilante mobs in search of so-called justice.

The violent threats were directly because of Trump’s insistence that he was the victim of election fraud, a baseless claim that has been refuted in all of the states where he initiated legal action, including Georgia.

“It has all gone too far,” Sterling said at a press conference before calling out Trump’s lawyer for calling for the killing of the former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), who was fired last month at the president’s behest.

“Joe diGenova asked for Chris Krebs, a patriot who ran CISA, to be shot,” Sterling said angrily.

That’s when Sterling said what should be unimaginable.

“A 20-something tech in Gwinnett County today had death threats and a nose saying he should be hung for treason.” The contractor was not identified, but Sterling said he was only transferring a report to a county computer so he could read it.

“It has to stop!” Sterling implored.

It was then when he took aim at Trump.

“Mr. President, you have not condemned these actions or its language,” Sterling said. “Senators, you have not condemned this language or these actions.”

He challenged Trump and Congress to do their jobs.

“We need you to step up,” he said, “and if you’re gonna take a position of leadership, show some!”

Sterling went on to say that Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s wife was “getting sexualized threats through her cell phone.”

Blaming Trump in no uncertain terms, Sterling called again for it to stop.

“This is the backbone of democracy and all of you who have not said a damn word are complicit in this!” he said.

He called for bipartisan condemnation of the violence and confirmed what everybody except Trump and his team have accepted as fact.

“Mr. President, it looks like you likely lost the state of Georgia,” Sterling said.

He said Trump has every right to pursue legal avenues, but they’ve been shut down. Now it’s time for Trump to acknowledge the obvious and stop with the charades that could inspire his supporters to possibly commit violence.

“Someone’s gonna get hurt, someone’s gonna get shot, someone’s gonna get killed — and it’s not right,” Sterling said.

Watch a portion of his press conference below.

https://twitter.com/QasimRashid/status/1333906396715372554?s=20

Georgia certified the election for Biden more than a week ago, leading to a war of words between Trump and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, who used to be one f the president’s biggest cheerleaders. The beef finally hit a crescendo Tuesday as it all culkminated in Sterling’s condemnation of the president inspiring vilence and death threats against innocent people.

The good news, if you can call it that, is that Trump seems to have finally accepted the fact that he will no longer be president in January. But the bad news is that he still refuses to abandon his claims of election fraud, an allegation that his staunchest supporters blindly beliueve even though he has not presented any proof.

This is America.

Drake Is Releasing A Line Of Candles That Smell Like Himself

Brooklyn Nets v Toronto Raptors

Source: Ron Turenne / Getty

Drake is the top-selling solo male artist of all time in America. According to the RIAA, Drake has passed Elvis, Eminem and Michael Jackson for total music sales grossing up to $218,280,000 in sales. Apparently, Drake can sell pretty much anything including candles that smell like himself. On Monday (Nov. 30), InStyle magazine shared details of Drake’s new line of scented sandals and even revealed that he modeled one of the scents after his own unique smell.

InStyle reported that one of the five scents designed by the Canadian rapper is called Carby Musk and it’s “smooth, musk fragrance is introspective in an interpretation of your beautiful self, yet extroversive as how you would want others to see your bold and brilliant self. Features notes of Musk, Ambers, Cashmere, Suede, and Velvet. Actually smells like Drake.”

This summer, Drake began cryptically teasing a line of scented candles, Better World Fragrance House, posting an Instagram Story of four navy blue handles with handwritten gold branding. He captioned the story post, “@betterworldfragrances Available soon cc:@ovoniko.”

The brand’s account currently follows Drake and @drakerelated, a hub for all of his music and business ventures, including his record label OVO Sound, October’s Very Own clothing line, and his Certified Lover Boy Nike merch. The website is a landing page at the moment, but people can safely assume this will house Drake’s latest business venture.

Celebrities are branching even further out with their business ventures outside of music and branded merchandise as touring has become obsolete in a pandemic stricken society. Evidently, candles are becoming trendy amongst celebrities and lifestyle influencers alike. Just this year, singer Kacey Musgraves collaborated with Boy Smells on a scent inspired by her song, “Slow Burn.” Beauty Youtuber Jackie Aina launched her own candle brand Forever Mood and even, actress Gwyneth Paltrow created Goop scents that unexpectedly smell like her vagina.

Drake’s line of candles hasn’t launched yet but it is quite on brand for the artist to explore candle making. Forever in his feelings, Drake has never shied away from being vulnerable in his music. Some may even call him sappy channeling all of his emotions over top charting hits. What better way to vibe to his emotional bops than with a fresh line of candles that carry a fragrance just like him.

Drake has reportedly partnered with fragrance house Givaudan to make Better World Fragrances. During a September episode of Revolve U, perfumer and fragrance expert Michael Carby of the Swiss fragrance house shared that he and his team had recently met with Drake in Toronto. The two seemed to hit it off after chatting about the similarities they shared between writing songs and creating fragrances.

The five soy wax candles the rapper intends to sell were all made right at home in Canada. Each candle comes with a gold marker to personalize the jar. The complete line are set to launch this holiday season. However, there’s a preview of three scents Carby Musk, Good Thoughts and Sweeter Tings on Michael Carby’s profile on Revolve’s website which seemed to have quickly sold out.

The candles are priced at $48, excluding Carby Musk, which is $80. We guess customers have to pay a bit extra to smell like the successful artist.

Unless you are one of Drake’s celebrity friends, you will have to wait for the release. He has been gifting his candles to his famous friends like Kehlani, Steph and Ayesha Curry and Toronto Raptors players Norm Powell, Kyle Lowry, Fred Van Fleet and Stanley Johnson. There is no specific release date on when everyone else can get their hands on the new line of candles, but continue checking Drake’s Instagram and the website for updates.

Lil Uzi Vert Reveals The Unusual Way He Accidentally Stabbed Himself In The Face

Lil Uzi Vert is advising fans on knife safety after he accidentally stabbed himself in the face.

It all started when Uzi shared a short video on Twitter, showing off the painful gash that lays just over his mouth. “I need some chapstick,” he wrote in the caption along with some emojis.

https://twitter.com/LILUZIVERT/status/1333573093785300992?s=20

Unsurprisingly, once he posted this video, fans were concerned with what happened and whether or not he’s done anything to treat the deep cut on top of his lip. That’s when the rapper revealed that he suffered the injury while he was in the process of popping open a zip tie with a knife when the injury occurred. He also addressed one fan who recommended that the star get stitches.

“Don’t open stuff up with a knife,” he told fans, revealed how he ended up getting cut. “It’s not safe.”

He went on to explain in more detail, tweeting, “I was pulling the knife back on a zip tie and stab my face … I just missed my lip.”

To fellow artist, Grimes, suggesting Lil Uzi get stitches, he asked, “you think it’s that deep?” She later added that super glue might work in place of going to the actual doctor’s office or emergency room, to which he simply replied, “Kk.”

Meet Kamala Harris’ Unapologetically Black Senior Staff

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris‘ senior staff is shaping up to be a proper representation of the voters who are largely credited for her and Joe Biden‘s historic election. Not only are the top three staffers Black but they are also women, a combinatory nod to the group often called the backbone of the Democratic Party.

The last addition to Harris’ staff is Tina Flournoy, who was formally picked on Tuesday to be the vice president’s chief of staff. The transition for Flournoy shouldn’t be too difficult since that’s the same role she’s been working in for former President Bill Clinton. Flournoy has also had stints as a senior adviser to Democratic National Convention Chairman Howard Dean and as an Assistant to the President for Public Policy at the American Federation of Teachers.

Her bio on the website for Georgetown University — where she graduated from law school – detailed her extensive experience working on behalf of Democrats in positions that include: “traveling chief of staff to 2000 Democratic vice presidential nominee, Senator Joseph Lieberman, Finance Director for the Gore 2000 Presidential Campaign and Deputy to the Campaign Manager in the 1992 Clinton/Gore Presidential Transition Office and in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel. Flournoy also served as General Counsel for the 1992 Democratic National Convention. Prior to joining the Convention team, Flournoy was Counsel for the DNC under Chairmen Paul Kirk and Ron Brown.”

According to journalist Yashar Ali, Flournoy is part of a group of Black women Democratic operatives and friends who call themselves “the Colored Girls.” They include Donna Brazile, Yolanda Caraway, Leah Daughtry and Minyon Moore. Ali reported Flourny’s hiring first.

Flournoy is expected to work closely with Ashley Etienne, who was named as Harris’ chief communications director. Like Flournoy, Etienne has a wealth of experience working for Democrats, including being the special assistant to President Barack Obama and the cabinet communications director at the White House. She was also a spokeswoman for Nancy Pelosi from 2012-2014.

Notably, Etienne led cabinet-wide communications efforts about the Black Lives Matter movement and Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative that addresses and identified opportunities for boys and young men of color to help them accomplish their goals. In addition, Etienne was named by ESSENCE as one of the most powerful Black women in Obama’s White House.

Etienne will undoubtedly work in tandem with Symone Sanders, who on Monday was officially introduced as a senior adviser and chief spokesperson for Harris. She previously worked as a senior adviser for Biden’s campaign after being a cable news political pundit. Her national profile grew while serving as national press secretary for Bernie Sanders during his 2016 presidential campaign.

The three of them join a steadily browning and diverse Biden administration that has increasingly lived up to the president-elect’s promise to have a cabinet and senior advisers who “look like America.”

Rosa Parks: Remembering Her Resilience, Resistance In The Face Of Racism

UPDATED: 8:30 a.m. ET, Dec. 1, 2020 —

Rosa Parks, befittingly called the “Mother of the Modern Day Civil Rights Movement,” sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott with one special move 65 years ago: staying in her seat.

Her move, simple in delivery but stellar in impact, represented a refusal to relinquish her seat to a white passenger when bus driver James F. Blake demanded that she do so in Montgomery, Alabama, on Dec. 1, 1955. Blacks were known as colored, and inferiority was the superior thought about African Americans at the time of Parks’ burgeoning resistance. She, like so many Black people, was tired of being resigned to second-class status because of racism.

On that day, Parks’ resistance was right. Yet, the courageous woman, 42, was arrested and briefly locked up, handcuffed by the stigmatization of segregation.

Parks’ revolution was racialized and publicized. Threats and caveats alike were thrown her way, but proved futile.

The activist summed up her feelings about that heavily documented day in her “Rosa Parks: My Story” autobiography in 1992: “I was not tired physically, or no more tired than I usually was at the end of a working day. I was not old, although some people have an image of me as being old then. I was 42. No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in.”

Parks, the secretary of the Montgomery NAACP chapter at the time, was not the first woman to refuse to vacate her seat. Claudette Colvin, Susie McDonald, Mary Louise Smith and other women were arrested for their resistance of the segregated bus system. A small boycott snowballed into a major boycott that lasted more than 300 days, starving revenue for the Alabama buses operations.

Colvin, Parks and the other female protesters, along with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in solidarity with one another, supported a major legal case, Browder V. Gayle, that caused a reversal in course pertaining to bus segregation in 1956. Black folks won the agency to sit in whatever seats they wanted, a right that should have been there’s from the start.

Parks, who died in 2005 at the age of 92 in Detroit, Michigan, will forever be remembered for her role in the revolution in Montgomery.

African Americans, including Barack Obama, have admired the intrepid Parks.

Bus seats are still posthumously reserved for the activist even to this day.

Amber Riley Encourages Women To Shoot Their Shot In Recent Interview

The era of traditionally courting a woman is long gone as shooting your shot across social media platforms has become the new norm. Actress and songstress, Amber Riley recently spoke with xoNecole about how she found love from simply sliding into her, now fiancé, Desean Black’s dms on Instagram. She mentions how the platform, which focuses on promoting positive images of women of color, brought the pair together. Amber Riley shares why she is an advocate for making the first move in a recent interview with xoNecole after announcing her engagement to the future doctor last week.

More women are shouting from the mountaintops about why it is necessary to throw away outdated constructs on dating and finding love today. There are even some women who push the envelope even further by handling the marriage proposals all by themselves. Men can be a bit indecisive when it comes to commitment and a lot slower to take the next step toward marriage, and it seems as if many women have grown impatient. The question for women becomes ‘are you willing to rid yourself of the old methods that grandma believed you were obligated to practice when finding true love?’ Traditionally, the man makes the first move by asking you out, opening your door, picking up the tab and asking you to be his wife.

The young girls are changing it up and Amber Riley is living proof that despite what others may feel, it isn’t a sign of desperation or being “too thirsty” to show interest in someone early on. It actually worked out perfectly for her as she established a friendship with her fiancé Desean Black. For the songstress, it was a bit easier to shoot her shot with a glass of wine and a few scrolls on the timeline.

Amber tells xoNecole, “you had posted him and I don’t know if he was a Man Crush Monday – I don’t know what he was. When I saw his picture, I was like, ‘Oh my God, he’s such a handsome man.’ I believe I followed him that night, and I remember scrolling through my Instagram, I saw his picture, and I was like, ‘Who is this guy? I don’t remember following him.’ He was on my timeline and I was like, ‘Hmmm, I’m gonna say hi,’ and I did. I literally just said, ‘Hey Desean, how are you?’ in his DMs.”

An effortless play on Instagram led Amber Riley to a lifetime of happiness. She goes on to discuss how this year she practiced being “much bolder” with her dating life and putting herself out there.

“A lot of people don’t want to put themselves out there because they fear rejection. I’m not a special case, so if the person that you’re interested in is interested in you, then they’re gonna respond in that way. A lot of women say, ‘I don’t want to be thirsty going into a guy’s DMs,’ but I wasn’t thirsty and I wasn’t chasing him. I just made myself seen and I made sure that he saw me and it went on from there,” the actress assures xoNecole.

Amber Riley suggests making yourself visible when finding love. Your potential partner may not know you even exist if you refuse to make even a subtle move in his/her viewfinder. The huge difference in dating now versus when our parents and grandparents found their soulmates is the accessibility we now have to a variety of people and opportunities. Social media has made connecting with others easier, but it has also made it difficult to simply settle. There are a ton of options for anyone.

The unapologetic actress shares a ‘how it started versus how it’s going’ post with her and her fiancé. In her interview with xoNecole, she leaves women who are anxious about making the first move with a few words of advice.

“Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there if you’re interested in someone. You don’t know the circumstances because some guys may be a little bit shy and you could be missing your opportunity to get an amazing friend. That could be the person that you’re gonna marry, the love of your life and you miss it all because of ego or pride. If the person doesn’t want you, that just means the person wasn’t for you but you’re just making yourself be seen or available to that person. Don’t think about it as chasing them. It’s basically saying, ‘the ball’s in your court,’ as a man, if that’s what you’re concerned about.”

Amber stresses to the women who are too prideful to make the initial move that they could be risking their chance at finding genuine love. Her self-titled EP, RILEY, includes the sensational record “BGE,” which signifies “big girl energy.” Ms. Riley, soon-to-be Mrs. Black, charges young women to channel their BGE by choosing to be visible, remaining confident and taking charge in their relationships.

Amber has found great success in her career by being an overall talent on screen with her notable work as Mercedes Jones on Glee to most recently releasing her six-track project, RILEY, which climbed to the number two spot on iTunes’ R&B Albums chart upon its release in early October. She can now add her mastery of self-love and finding pure love in someone else.

It is of great importance to use your own discernment when deciding to make the first move as a woman and relying on your natural intuition. Just note that many women aren’t holding back and these same women are taking charge in both their professional and personal lives. That job and that man is yours if you want, sis. Shoot your shot or miss out on a potential lifetime of love and happiness. Listen to the greats like Amber Riley because the proof is in the material.
